Let me introduce myself

I'm Alexander, a dog trainer, and together with my dog, Illy, I help people and dogs understand each other better. Illy is my partner, my mirror, and a daily reminder that lasting change begins with watching and listening. Dogs have been the common thread throughout my life; I continue to love their behavior and the bond they form with us.

My journey began with three Beagles and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. With them, I discovered how special it is to not only train, but also to understand why dogs make certain choices. That curiosity grew into a mission that now forms the foundation of Hondbalans.

Education and inspiration

I was trained by two of the best dog behavior therapists in Belgium. One provided me with valuable lessons learned from forty years of practical experience, while the other shared the latest scientific insights into dog behavior and learning processes.

After that, I continued to learn from international experts in the field of anxiety, aggression, reactivity, and complex behavior. I translate that knowledge into practical guidance tailored to you and your dog. No endless searching for solutions for lunging, anxiety, pulling on the leash, or poor listening, but immediately providing the right tools to get started.

The dogs I work with show me daily what true balance means. Each dog has its own story; all we have to do is truly see the dog.

Individual dog training, no group lessons but tailor-made

We start with an introduction. We'll watch, listen, and observe you and, especially, your dog. What are they communicating with their body, what situations are they finding difficult, where tension arises, and what do you need to be able to walk or train with confidence again?

Then we'll get started. No group lessons where your dog has to follow along, no standard protocols, but individual dog training and behavioral therapy tailored to your situation. At your pace, we'll build safety, trust, and teamwork.

Our approach is relationship-oriented. It's not about commands or performance, but about connection, clarity, and mutual understanding.

🦴 Your relationship is the key to lasting change.

Peace, confidence and balance in anxious or reactive dogs

Perfect dogs don't exist, but there are dogs who feel safe, who trust their humans, and who know they are being seen. The goal isn't for a dog to listen because they have to, but for them to relax because they feel good about their coat.

It's not about quick results or tricks, it's about balance. A dog that walks relaxed beside you because it wants to, not because it has to.

We help you understand your dog, and your dog understands our strange human world.

Who we work for

We support dogs with anxiety, aggression, overstimulation, aggressive behavior, leash pulling, insecurity, or difficult walks. Dogs who are unresponsive, reactive to other dogs, or have difficulty with stimuli are also welcome.

Why choose private dog training?

Private coaching provides the space to truly focus on your dog's needs, without the pressure of time or distractions from other dogs. It creates more peace, clarity, and faster insight into their behavior.

Guidance for dogs that lunge on the leash

Many dogs lash out due to stress or uncertainty. This isn't stubbornness, but a sign they need help. We'll guide you step by step toward peace, clarity, and relaxing walks.

Behavioral therapy for stress or tension

Stress and overstimulation affect everything a dog does. We use techniques that reduce tension, increase predictability, and build your dog's confidence. Peace and safety are key.

Anxious dogs

Fear influences everything a dog does. We use techniques that reduce tension, increase predictability, and build your dog's confidence. Calmness and safety are key.

Aggression problems

Aggression doesn't just happen out of nowhere. It's communication that arises from stress, anxiety, or overstimulation. We'll identify the root cause and guide you toward peace and security in daily life.

Pulling on the leash

Pulling on the leash is a common problem, but not an annoying personality trait. We'll teach your dog to walk relaxed, attentively, and calmly again, without force or painful aids.

Separation anxiety

Separation anxiety requires a plan that is realistic and restores safety. We build this step by step so that space is created again in your daily life.
